What is the Bridge Program?
The K16 Bridge Program was designed by a group of k-12 and community college teachers, instructors, counselors, and administrators to finally unite K-12 with community colleges and four year institutions. The goal of the program is to increase the number of students transitioning to post-secondary institutions by making the K-12 schools an active participant in the process. With personal web sites, in class lessons, and the community college admissions process brought to each and every site the program is unique.
Now entering into its fourth year in the High Desert Region of California, K16 Bridge is expanding well beyond the 5,000 seniors and 22 high schools participating last year in the program. In the fall of 2008 over 20,000 High Desert high school students will be entering the program. Our goal for the fall of 2009 is to have all fourth through twelfth grade students in the High Desert begin the program, which will total at least 45,000 students.
